We
are dedicated to providing the
highest quality, graded logs in
the industry. All of our logs
are made from standing dead
lodgepole pine from the Pacific
Northwest. These timbers are
recognized for their stability,
beauty and dryness. All of our
logs are graded under the
auspices of Timber Products
Inspection, a third party
grading agency that assures you
of the grades and dryness of the
logs.
About Log Grading!
What Kind of Wood?
Our logs are made from lodgepole
pine/Englemann spruce, which
grow in the same forests in the
Pacific Northwest. Over 90
percent of our logs qualify for
the two highest grades in the
grading system, and none fall
below the middle grade. And, all
of the logs are stamped with a
"Dry" grade. Other species, such
as Douglas fir or cedar are
available on request. We also
have laminated logs made from
ponderosa pine or cedar...or a
combination of the two.
Why Standing Dead Logs?
Standing dead logs are trees
that are no longer living or
growing and have remained
standing for long periods of
time. Because wood from these
trees is allowed to dry slowly
and naturally, the moisture
content is extremely low
(8-19%). By choosing Wood House,
you will receive a product that
will not shrink, check, twist,
bow, crook, or move appreciably.
This means that you will not
experience gaps at seams,
significant settlement, future
structural problems, window and
door operating problems and
other unsightly wall conditions.

Why
is Wood a Good Choice?
Wood is simply the best insulating material
known. It has approximately 200,000 tiny air
pockets in just one cubic inch. These tiny
air pockets mean extra comfort in a log
home, and monthly savings on utility bills
in both summer and winter.
Are Log Homes Hard to Maintain?
After a quality sealer is applied to the
interior surfaces, very little maintenance
is required...with an occasional dusting. On
the exterior, a quality preservative must be
applied which provides water repellency and
UV light protection to give long lasting
protection. This preservative will need to
be re-applied periodically, much the same as
paint or stain on wood-sided homes.
